Father’s Day: A Weekend of Gratitude, Joy, and Reflection
Father’s Day doesn’t have to be just one day. It can feel more like a Father’s Weekend — a time stretched across days filled with shared moments, laughter, gratitude, and reflection. It’s also the perfect opportunity for honoring father figures in our lives— whether they’re our biological dads, uncles, grandfathers, older brothers, or close family friends. These are the men who help shape our growth, share in our laughter, and guide us through life with strength and love.
As I think about Father’s Day, I’m reminded not just of one person, but of a collection of fatherly presences who helped shape my childhood and beyond. These were men who brought their full selves into our lives — teaching, playing, guiding, and showing up with consistency and care.

Some were quiet and steady, teaching through action more than words. Others were full of energy, playing tag in the backyard, or fixing bikes (ATV’s), Boats while offering advice that would only make sense years later. They helped nurture us, not only through lessons but through joy — showing us how to be curious, kind, resilient, and brave.
Looking back, I see how important their presence was in our growing up. They celebrated our wins, encouraged us when we stumbled, and showed us, in their own ways, what love and strength can look like.
As we move through life, the role of a “father” might shift. Perhaps we become those figures for others — to children, to nieces and nephews, or even to friends. Fatherhood, after all, isn’t just about biology. It’s about presence. It’s about choosing to invest in someone else’s growth, happiness, and well-being.
“Growing up at Lake Wallenpaupack is a cherished time for me,” Debbie Friese.
So this Father’s Day, or Father’s Weekend, let’s celebrate all the wonderful “father types” out there — the ones who’ve helped raise us, guide us, and bring joy into our lives. Let’s thank them for the stories, the lessons, and the laughter.
Here’s to the dads, the uncles, the mentors, and every man who’s stepped into that role — whether for a moment or for a lifetime. You are appreciated more than words can say.
Looking forward to the future as we celebrate the father figures who’ve helped build our lives, maybe you’re thinking about building something new yourself — a first home, a bigger space for your growing family, or a fresh start. If you’re thinking about buying or selling locally, I’d love to help you navigate your next chapter.
